A New Generation of Farming
Fridlington Farms Ltd. is a family business which has farmed in the Sutton on the Forest area for 80 years and founded by J.L.Fridlington. The land, situated in the Vale of York has a light and sandy nature which gives a good platform for growing root vegetables. The farm consists of c.1300 Hectares with a suitable 6 year rotation including potatoes, wheat, brassica and barley.
Potatoes are a key crop for the business in total the farm plants and harvests c.380 Hectares. The potato crop is grown for processing with the farm supplying Walkers, McCain’s & Mercian. The farm has an irrigation licence of 60million gallons. A small amount of the potato crop is marketed at harvest, but the majority is stored in our own state of the art storage facilities for marketing later in the season.
